For candidates & referees

An invitation.
A little context.

Refworthy helps recruiters collect employment references. Here's what to expect if you've been asked to take part.

Know who is asking.

The invitation should name the recruiting organisation. If it is unexpected, confirm it with the recruiter through a contact you trust.

Read before you agree.

You'll be asked for consent. Take a moment to understand what is being requested and how the information will be used.

Get help from a person.

Contact the recruiter with questions about the check, or email [email protected] for platform help.

happens next.

Why did I receive an invitation?

A recruitment agency or employer uses Refworthy to collect references. You may have been invited as a candidate or nominated to give a reference. The request should identify the recruiting organisation and the person it concerns.

How do I check an unexpected request?

Contact the named recruiter using contact details you already know or find independently. An email can be impersonated, so a familiar name or logo alone is not proof that it is authentic. You do not need to open an unexpected link to contact us for help.

Do I have to answer?

Participation is voluntary. Review the consent information before continuing. Referees can decline or request a phone call if they prefer to speak to the recruiter.

What happens to my information?

The recruiting workspace uses the information for its reference process. Your answers may be included in a report it shares with its hiring client. Read the consent information and privacy policy for the details.

My link has expired. What should I do?

Follow the instructions on the expired-link page, where a replacement may be available. You can also contact the recruiter who sent the request. There is no need to create a Refworthy account.
